Review: AGI32 on Mac – What You Need to Know
The short version:
AGI32 (by Lighting Analysts) does not have a native Mac version. It runs only on Windows. However, Mac users can still run it successfully using virtualization or dual-boot software.
- Dialux evo: Free, powerful, and runs natively on Mac. Excellent for indoor and street lighting. The interface is more modern than AGI32, but the calculation engine is less forgiving.
- ReluxDesktop: Also free and native on Mac. Strongly preferred in Europe. It handles complex geometries better than AGI32, but the IES library management is clunky.
- Lumenator (via web): This is a browser-based tool. Since it runs in Chrome on macOS, it works flawlessly. It is not as deep as AGI32 for professional sports lighting or large-area sites, but improving rapidly.
